Chair Yoga

This class comes to the Massapequa Public Library, 40 Harbor Ln., for anyone interested in the benefits of yoga. Rather than floor work, this class will be seated in chairs for certain yoga postures and use chairs as support for standing postures. This class is well-suited for seniors, pregnant women and those who cannt get down on the floor. Bring a yoga mat. The cost is $3 per session. This class at the Massapequa Public Library is for adults and seniors confused by the new iPhone, tablet, Android, Nook, e-reader and more. Come in and let some of Massapequa’s saaviest teens help teach about the newest electronic gadgets. Teens receive community service credits for their time. Aerobics At The Library

The Massapequa Public Library, 40 Harbor Ln., presents the opportunity to learn movements to improve cardiovascular efficiency, increase flexibility and improve body tone. Low impact means no strenuous exercises. Come and get fit without the pain. Dress comfortably, wear sneakers, bring water and a mat. Attendees are also encouraged to bring weights. The History of Nunley’s

Nunley’s Amusement Park was a beloved family destination for many Long Islanders from 1939 until it closed in 1995. Famed for its carousel, it also had a Ferris wheel, roller coaster, arcade and miniature golf course. Nunley’s is reminiscent of a happy time, warm summer days, and the delights of youth. The park holds a strong place in the memories of many Long Islanders. Author and Long Island resident Marisa Berman speaks of her experiences there as a child and about her book, Images of America: Nunley’s Amusement Park. The Developmental Disabilities Institute will once again be heating things up with Long Island’s best rock-n-roll bands to benefit children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities at Mulcahy’s Pub and Music Hall in Wantagh on Sunday, March 9 at 3 p.m. For a $30 donation guests will enjoy the sounds of legendary local bands, gift baskets auction, raffles, food, cash bar and the company of hundreds of fellow Long Islanders.
