On Sunday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Assemblyman Joseph S. Saladino will host the Sixth Annual Marine and Outdoor Recreation Expo at the Jones Beach West End Boat Basin.
The event is free to the public and guests of all ages are encouraged to attend. This year’s expo will feature exhibits on solar energy, green technology, renewable energy, and environmental protection and conservation. Additional activities will include touch-tank displays, face painting, kayaking, fly-fishing and surf casting lessons, snapper fishing and much more. The expo will also feature a “recycle, reduce and reuse” theme in order to keep Long Island and our planet clean and healthy.
“My Marine Expo is a great way for families to partake in a fun experience to learn about the environment, renewable energies and outdoor recreation,” said Saladino. “There are so many things for children and people of all ages to do and learn about. It is an exciting opportunity and I hope to see everyone there.”
Live music will round out the day with Long Island’s premiere original rock ‘n’ roll band “The Rockin’ 45s” and local rock musician Dennis Phelps. Those who attend the expo will also be able to sample the largest fish-shaped cake in the state, made by Farmingdale’s Merritt Bakery. Special guest and local singer Rebecca Ditzel will be singing the national anthem.
In addition, fantastic events, games, refreshments, T-shirts and prizes will also be available. The usual Jones Beach $8 parking fee still applies. For more information about the Sixth Annual Marine and Outdoor Recreation Expo, please contact Assemblyman Saladino’s district office at 844-0635.
