Massapequa has one of the largest graduating classes in all of Long Island and students received numerous awards and honors in addition to well-earned diplomas.
The event featured addresses by both Class of 2012 presidents, Michael Cantalupo and Patrick McDermott, followed by a salutatorian’s address by Lauren Reisig and a valedictorian’s address by Bertie Geng.
Principal Dr. Barbara Williams presented the hefty number of student awards, while Michael Quigley, Yvonne Knott and Nicole Zappulla presented a list of the graduates. Finally, Superintendent Charles V. Sulc was given the job of handing out diplomas to each of the 603 graduates.
Among the many award winners were Matthew Goldenberg for English, Lauren Reisig for Social Studies, Bertie Geng for Mathematics, Nickolas Boroda in Science, Christopher Crowley in World Languages, Dominic Esposito in Business Education, Tina Marie DiTommaso in Family & Consumer Science, Maxwell Braunstein in Music, Christopher Oliver in Technology, Nicole Striffolino in Art, Matthew Tamborrino and Heather Sweeney in Physical Education and Dominic Esposito and Nicole Scicultella in Athletics.
