The Robbery Squad reports the details of the arrest of an Amityville teen for a robbery that occurred on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 8:10 p.m. in Massapequa.
The arrest ended an alleged crime spree by the defendant in the Massapequa area, one that saw two other attempted robberies at earlier dates in September.
According to detectives, the defendant robbed two 14-year-old males of a bicycle, gold chain and iPod by use of physical force in the parking lot of 5500 Sunrise Highway. There were no injuries. The defendant was charged with two counts of Robbery 2nd Degree.
Additionally, the defendant was charged with Attempted Robbery 1st Degree for an incident that occurred on Sept. 1 at 10:10 p.m. at Main Street and Plitt Avenue, South Farmingdale. The defendant, detectives said, attempted to rob three pedestrians of their cell phones at gunpoint. There were no proceeds.
The defendant was also charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Robbery 2nd Degree for a pedestrian robbery that occurred at Louden Street and Carmens Road, Massapequa on Sept. 2 at 9:30 p.m. Proceeds, taken at gunpoint, were cell phones and cash. There were no injuries.
The defendant was arraigned in First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on Sept. 6.
