Arrest Made in ‘Terroristic Threat’

Police: Former Student Talked of ‘Columbine Type’ Action

The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of an individual for making a terroristic threat that occurred on Friday, April 9 in North Massapequa.

According to detectives, a teenaged youth, a resident of North Massapequa stated that on April 20 that he was going to conduct a “Columbine type shooting” at the Plainedge High School located at 241 Wyngate Drive. April 20, detectives note, is the anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting.

The statement of the defendant necessitated an immediate response from the Nassau County Police Department. Numerous police detectives, uniform officers, BSO officers and SIS detectives were dispatched to various locations to ensure public safety. The suspect, who is a former student of the high school, was arrested on April 16 at 5:40 p.m. without incident.

The defendant is charged with Making a Terroristic Threat (D Felony) and was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on April 17.
