On Sept. 30, the annual Sons of Italy Feast and Festival was held. It is always a fun day and this year proved to be no exception. Broadway was filled with fun activities, good music, and delicious food to indulge in – even if nutritionists might take issues with zeppoles and sausage being part of one’s diet.
However, I think the best part of the day was the spirit of community that exists in Massapequa, which was again evidenced by the large turnout for the annual event. Even though there are many other activities to enjoy on an early autumn Sunday, Massapequans still came out to enjoy each other’s company and spend some time together. Throughout the fair, one could see nothing but smiling faces and people who were happy to be with each other. It is that sense of community that gives Massapequa, North Massapequa, and Massapequa Park a small town, friendly, feel and it is what truly make our communities special.
Congratulations to the Sons of Italy for another fantastic fair.
