Rough Riders Invite Soccer Players to Camp Academy

Massapequa is crazy about soccer and this summer fans and athletes alike will get a chance to sharpen in-game skills thanks to the Long Island Rough Riders.

South shore players between the ages of 5 and 13 are invited to register for the Rough Riders’ Soccer Academy at Cedar Creek Park in Wantagh, August 5 through 8 from 5 until 8 p.m. each night. There will be daily instructional themes including dribbling, passing and receiving and shooting, as well as technical instruction in age and skill based groups and small-sided games at the end of each daily session.

“Players of different ages have to be trained differently and we are very aware of the specific demands of youth soccer,” said Daan Oomen, camp director. “In our 19 years of soccer camp experience, we feel we have achieved an ideal balance between technical training and an entertaining atmosphere so players can enjoy their camp day while constantly learning something new.”

The Long Island Rough Riders camps are designed to improve the game of every soccer player. Campers will have the opportunity to learn new skills while improving those skills previously learned in a fun, and challenging environment. The Rough Riders extensive camp programs offer the perfect activity for soccer players of all ages and abilities.

At this soccer camp, children will benefit from the Rough Riders’ 19 years of soccer camp excellence, professional licensed coaching instructors, an on-field camp director and full time office staff, a proven curriculum for player development, groups based on age and skill level and free Adidas camp shirts for all campers.

“A maximum number of touches on the ball and a pressure free environment have proven to be ideal for positive, lasting player development,” said Oomen.

The price is $175 per child, with group and sibling discounts available. For more information and online registration, check out For a personalized camp consultation, call 516-622-3900 ext. 1003.
