While it appears the school board can put a budget before voters this May for the 2009-2010 school year, the board may have to make cuts in programs or staff in the following years in order to keep tax levy increases under 4 percent.

The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) board voted for massive fare hikes as a way to close its budget deficit. Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) commuters will be paying a 27 percent increase beginning in June when the fare increases take effect.

The Lady Mustangs girls bowling team finished the regular season with a stellar 9-3 record qualifying for the Nassau County finals. Coach Val Liese's young ladies continue to build a strong program with a second place conference finish.

Mustangs Set for Spring Sports Season
Last year, head varsity baseball coach Helms Bohringer broke with tradition and started his first freshman on an opening day roster. This year, returning sophomore Jimmy Bulva joins a group of classmates on the youngest team Bohringer fields in his 14-year tenure.
