“Miles For Melanoma” 5K Run/Walk

Colette Coyne Melanoma Awareness Campaign 9th Annual “Miles For Melanoma” 5K Run/Walk, Sunday, May 19 in Eisenhower Park, Field 2, East Meadow. Ccmac.org. Skin Cancer, with a lifetime risk of 1 in 5 including Melanoma, is now epidemic. It is the most common form of cancer in young adults 25-29 and second among 15-25 years old. Register online at ccmac.org, or on-site starting 8 a.m. Run starts 9:30 a.m., Walk 10:30 a.m. A $20 donation is needed by May 6 to register, $25 after the date. Children under 12 Free. Clothing Drive

The County Seat Kiwanis clothing drive will be held on Monday, May 20. You can drop off clothing at the Monday morning meetings at iHOP on Hillside Avenue and Willis Avenue.

Golf And Tennis Tournament 

The Family and Children’s Golf and Tennis Tournament will be held on May 23rd at the exclusive Creek Club featured in Golf Digest’s America’s Greatest Golf Courses listing. The Creek Club is located at 1 Horse Hollow Rd, Locust Valley. The Tournament begins with brunch at 10:30 a.m. followed by an afternoon of play at 12:30 p.m. shotgun start or they can choose to participate in a tennis tournament that begins at 1 p.m.  It’s $650 per golfer and $275 per tennis player and includes brunch and cocktail buffet. After Cancer Program       

The North Shore-LIJ Health System is presenting “The Path to Wellness after Cancer Survivorship Program: Medical Issues After Treatment Ends” program on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the conference room at the Monter Cancer Center, located at 450 Lakeville Road, Lake Success. This program is for cancer survivors who have completed their active treatment; caregivers and family members are welcome as well. Mark Hoffman, MD, attending physician in the division of hematology/oncology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center will be the guest speaker for the evening. •Look Good...Feel Better sponsored by LIJ Medical Center in association with the National Cosmetology Association, the Toiletry Fragrance Association and the American Cancer Society. The program reaches out to women with cancer and teaches them how to best apply makeup and wear their hair while undergoing cancer treatment.
