Mother’s Day At The Mansion

In conjunction with the opening weekend of The Great Gatsby, the Glen Cove Mansion will offer a Roaring ‘20s themed dinner this Mother Day, giving patrons an opportunity to indulge in a historic menu while exploring one of the few remaining Gold Coast Estates on Long Island.


An expert in historic menus, European-trained Executive Chef Andy Helliwell will pay homage to the glorious jazz age by reaching back to this storied time for the flavors, tastes and scents of this glamorous era. 


“We do an elaborate spread,” says Joseph Gannon, operations manager of the mansion. 


The mansion has been offering special menus on Mother’s Day for several years, and tends to attract quite a few guests who might be looking for more than just the typical restaurant experience. In addition to the food, Gannon says they decorate with lots of flowers to give a spring like feel. The gardens are open to the public, making it an ideal place for taking a stroll before or after the meal, and enjoy the history of the estate.


Chef Helliwell will serve a menu based on the best of the past, updated for today’s discriminating palate to include: a salad bar, a shrimp bar, a hot buffet including chicken amaretto, fillet mignon, sun-dried tomato crusted salmon with rose bruschetta sauce, eggplant rollatini, asiago potato croquettes; a pasta station; and a carving station with various choices. Dessert choices include carrot cake, chocolate cake, New York Style cheesecake, assorted pies, mini pastries, cookies, and sliced fresh fruit.


The mansion will offer two seatings for Mother’s Day dinner, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and is $55 for adults, $29 for children ages 4-13.  Children age 3 and under are complimentary. Call (516) 674-2955 for Mother’s Day Dinner reservations and more information.
