It’s not every day when you get a letter answered from the highest house in the United States. Mineola resident Adnan Tapa, a fourth-grade student at Jackson Avenue School recently expressed his concern over world actions to President Barack Obama in the form of a letter.
This past summer, Tapa received a response from the White House that included photos of the first family and a letter thanking him for his interest and urging him to do his best in school. I have to hand it to him; In fourth-grade, I wouldn’t have thought to voice my opinion to the leader of the free world and I commend Adnan for having such conviction, knowledge and wherewithal to call on the president to showcase his opinion.
Let this editorial serve as a notice: write your elected officials and write to those in power. You may get the answer you want.
