Letter: Sorry For My Cough?

I am writing this letter in reply to a statement made by Richard Brummel at the Village of Mineola Board Meeting on Wednesday, March 6.

Mr. Brummel is trying to save a tree on private property located on Roslyn Road. This house has been foreclosed and he feels a developer will expand the property and remove the tree.

I was accused of deliberately coughing while he was at the podium trying to force the board of trustees of the Village of Mineola to enforce a tree ordinance program.

This is just another example of Mr. Brummel’s repeated tactics at meetings.

He has accused the board of the Village of Mineola as well as Senator Jack Martins of disrespecting him, which is nothing more than utter nonsense.

Mr. Brummel has appeared four times before the board at meetings and has spoken at one time for over a half hour (37 minutes to be exact) on this issue.

If anyone has shown any disrespect, it is Mr. Brummel who has stooped to using false statements in trying to get people to sign his petition.

I would have responded to Mr. Brummel at the meeting, but would not lower myself to his standards.

I believe four times at a village meeting is enough and I surely hope that the Board of Trustees does not allow him to speak on this issue anymore.
