I was so happy to hear of Patricia Navarra’s announcement that she is seeking election to the Mineola School Board.
I have known of Pat for many years through her very visible volunteerism, benefiting the community, as president of both the PTA District Council and Mineola Middle School PTA. Recently, I have worked with Pat as a member of P.E.A.C.E. and have come to know her personally. What I learned about Pat was she is someone who accepted facts and understands that we have a community comprised of many types of people, who have different expectations and perspectives.
Pat has the long-term vision needed in a School Board member. She understands that decision-making by the district’s board and its administration will impact the future of our beloved children and community. We want that impact to be positive, productive and progressive when it comes to our children’s education and prudent in the usage of our tax dollars.
As an educator, I believe Pat has a special insight into the needs of students and teaching models, which she can bring to those decisions. To Pat’s character, her students’ comments on, “RateMyProfessor.com,” noted her caring, approachability, devotion and good listening skills. Those are all attributes I would want my School Board representative to have. I fully endorse Pat Navarra for election to the Mineola School Board.
