This upcoming election, Mineola has a chance to control the outcome of the North Hempstead Election. For years now, North Hempstead has ignored Mineola and for the most part, Mineola has ignored the town as we do not use their services. The mayor and village board and residents do not receive the respect from the Town of North Hempstead that a village of our size deserves.
We only receive back approximately $56,000 in sales tax revenue when we should be getting $1.1 million. They pave streets in other incorporated villages but not Mineola, we end up paying for it ourselves.
Only when funding was received through a grant from the state did they work on the flood mitigation project on the east end of our village. The last election for town supervisor was decided by 300 votes we have 12,000 registered voters in Mineola. I am asking the registered voters of Mineola to come out in strength and show the Town of North Hempstead that they need to come to the table and work with our village. If we come out and vote for a change in large numbers, the town will have no choice but to come to the table and negotiate more services for Mineola residents. So on Tuesday November 5, go to your local voting both and make your vote count and Mineola’s voice heard.
