The frigid morning of Feb. 12, when most activities on Long Island came to a frozen halt, I ended up stuck on my corner turning around to pull into the garage. My office had called to tell me to not attempt to come in to work. Rocking to and fro to no avail, I went to get a shovel and sand to free myself when along came a Mineola Sanitation truck. The two men walked toward me, seeing I was in trouble.
When I looked up and saw the tall, handsome, smiling man, I recognized him immediately. He had stopped one summer day and helped me properly jump my car battery (my engine was smoking, as I had crossed wires).
“This is the second time you have saved me!” I exclaimed. I often brag about the excellent services we enjoy in Mineola. Hats off to the exemplary employees who serve our village. I failed to get this gentleman’s name, but please find him and thank him wholeheartedly again for me.
