Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos will be hosting his first online chat on Aug. 23 to discuss the County’s finances and is inviting everyone to participate. The chat will begin at noon and continue until 2 p.m.
“For the first time ever, anyone can go to our website and ask questions concerning their tax dollars or report waste in government,” Maragos said. “Nassau County, like the rest of the country, is trying to cope with this recession and bad economic time. The point of this live ‘virtual town hall meeting’ is to give taxpayers the opportunity to get direct answers and to air their views.”
To participate go to the Nassau County Comptroller’s website www.nassaucounty ny.gov/agencies/Comptroller/index.html and click on the “Chat Live With Comptroller Maragos” link which will be posted on Aug. 23 starting at noon. You will be directed to a chat session where you can ask questions and express your views.
“We hope virtual town hall meetings will become a regular event and encourage increased citizen participation on issues affecting our communities,”Maragos added.
