Between swimming lessons, family fun nights and middle school nights, the John S. DaVanzo Community Pool has been bustling over the past few weeks.
Swimming lessons concluded on July 7 with many students successfully learning and perfecting a variety of swimming techniques and strokes.
There have also been two Splash Parties. The first one, Family Fun Night, was held on Aug. 1 and was hugely successful. Many families attended and had a great time dancing and enjoying the beautiful evening. The second party, Middle School Night on Aug. 7, was well-attended by students going into the sixth, seventh and eighth grades.
The final Family Fun Night of the season was held on Aug. 15 from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
For those wishing to relive Woodstock, there was Woodstock Day on Aug. 14 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
After five exciting weeks, summer recreation camp ended on July 7. Throughout the entire duration of the five-week program, there were only two indoor days and the camp was never cancelled due to inclement weather.
To celebrate the end of the camp, campers were treated to two water slides, cotton candy and ice pops and the program’s first annual dance-off in the hockey rink.
Approximately 400 campers completed the program, making 2009 one of the most successful summers ever.
