The Mineola Mustangs Varsity Golf team recently posted its first victory of the season against Hicksville High School and has used that game as a springboard toward continued success.
Under the leadership of team captain John Lusardi, the team has been pointed in a positive direction. To date, the Mustangs have posted two wins and five losses with three-matches left to play.
Chris Fischer has shown improvement over last year and was having a fine season until a fractured finger sidelined him and took him out of the line up. Matt Eisen has the low score of the year a 40 at Wheatley Hills Country Club under some nasty weather conditions.
Just recently, Tom Farrell had the low score at the famous Piping Rock Country Club recording our lone victory of the match. The new addition of Nick Iadevaio has added depth to this years squad while James Wiercinski in his first varsity season has shown great potential.
The coaching staff is looking forward to his development in the future. Once again, Tim Gill is trying to repeat as a Nassau County qualifier for the County Championships held in May at Bethpage State Park.
