Erin Connolly and Ryan Keenan have been selected as Outstanding Physical Education students by the Wheatley School Physical Education Department.
Connolly and Keenan were recently honored at an awards banquet held at the Crest Hollow Country Club. The Nassau Zone of the New York State Association sponsors the awards program for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.
Connolly has maintained a 4.0 grade point average throughout her high school years. As a physical education student, her test scores, skill development and attitude have been exemplary.
She is president of the Wheatley Book Club and a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Spanish Club and Environmental Club. Connolly received recognition as an AP Scholar and as a member of Wheatley’s orchestra, where she plays the viola. She also volunteers her services as a tutor for students struggling in English, math and science.
Keenan’s fitness scores and skill development in the physical education program have been outstanding and his enthusiasm for learning is greatly admired. He has been involved in many athletic activities during his four high school years, competing in track, baseball, soccer and ice hockey. While maintaining a rigorous academic program, he has attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.2.
Keenan is an active member of the Key Club and volunteers his time to help others as part of the East Williston Creative Arts Program, Wheatley’s Day of Service and Learning and as an assistant soccer coach in the local youth soccer program.
