The Mineola Varsity Wrestling Team placed 12 wrestlers in the top 4 to advance to the Nassau County Championship Tournament. Seniors Matt Long and Luigi Miranda lead the way as both have had outstanding years so far. Long has a 25 -1 record while Miranda sports a 20-1 record as a of press time. This is a very young team placed eight sophomores and one freshman along with junior Jacob Escobar. The 12 are as follows:

Freshman: Mike Bowen advanced from the 182 pounds weight class.
Sophomore: Eric Lopez Placed second at 106 pounds; Peter McCormack placed second at 120 pounds; Kyle Dunleavey placed 2 at 145 pounds’ James Rodriguez placed fourth at 145 pounds; James Gerstner placed third at 152 pounds’ Anthony Sarno placed third at 170 pounds; dien Hincapie placed first at 195 pounds and Luigi Athan placed first at 285 pounds.
Junior: Jacob Escobar placed fourth at 120 pounds.
Seniors: Matt Long placed first at 138 pounds and Luigi Miranda placed first at 152 pounds.
