MAA Travel Soccer teams wrapped up their respective fall 2013 seasons recently.  Two MAA teams won titles this season in the Long Island Junior Soccer League; the BU13 Mineola Empire went 9-0-1 and the GU14 Red Bulls enjoyed a 8-1-1 campaign to each win first place trophies.  The GU11 Honey Badgers went undefeated (6-0-2) and finished in second place in their division, as did the GU15 Mini-Mustangs with a 7-1-1 season record.

Sweet Season Ends With Another Honey Badgers Victory

The GU11 Mineola Honey Badgers finished off the Freeport Fury with a 6-0 victory to cap an undefeated 6-0-2 season on Nov. 16.  The Honey Badgers controlled much of the game and featured terrific efforts on defense by Julianna Anteri, Victoria LoPiccolo, Jolie Ilchert, Faith Nikolic, Sheila O’Mara, and Julia Nygaard, limiting the Fury to just two shots on goal.

Constant pressure was put on the Fury goal with near misses by Kayla Gray, Isabella Rivera, and Gabbie Flynn. The Honey Badgers scores were provided by Sarah Faley, Trista Bugalla, Charlotte Williams, Amber Nikolic, and two from Brianna Werny.

Graca’s Goals Help Red Bulls Claim Title

The GU14 Mineola Red Bulls claimed their first division title with a 4-1 victory over Plainview Old Bethpage on Nov. 17.  Red Bulls star striker Joanna Graca scored two goals and teammates Jordyn Sinert and Eve Sommese each added one to lead their team to a terrific 8-1-1 record on the season.

Empire Finish Undefeated Season

The BU13 Mineola Empire FC finished a fantastic season unbeaten in all competitions with a 5-0 win in freezing temperatures at Wilson Park on Nov. 24.  Empire FC finished first in their division with a stunning 28 points, 36 goals scored and 11 conceded.  These results were achieved only due to exceptional teamwork by the 16 dedicated young men that make up this team.

Federrico Lippmann had four shutouts at goalie this season. Angel Pinto, Joseph Mueller, Fernando Palacios, Steven Collica and Jonathan Kim formed a solid defensive barrier in front of the goal while Karthik Pitchayan, Francisco Cabrera, Aidan Roldan and Kevin Graca facilitated ball movement between defense and midfield with the team’s trademark rapid counter attacks.

Patrick Ekladios, Mahesh Pitchayan, Yuval Coriat, Migdo Salmeron, Andrew Sarnel and Benjamin Danialian played exceptional rapid-paced attacks with accurate passes resulting in many goals.  The boys received their LIJSL Division Champions medals and patches after the game and are looking for another successful and exciting season next spring.
