Mineola Best Saints
The Mineola Hurricanes recently pounded the L.I. Saints 11-4 at Terry Farrell Park in Huntington in six innings. Chris Marotta got it done on the hill on the way to his first win of the season. He allowed two runs over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered two hits. Jake Christianson took the loss for L.I. Saints. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked two and struck out seven. The Hurricanes didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the second inning when it scored on a two-run triple by Kevin Pusey.
Mineola Hurricanes piled on three more runs in the top of the third. TJ McManus singled, scoring AJ Henriquez to kick things off.
Mineola scored five runs in the sixth on an RBI triple by Connor Eakin, a groundout by Marotta, an RBI single by Patrick O’Gara, and a two-run double by Jack Mackay.
One run in the bottom of the fifth helped L.I. Saints close its deficit to 6-4. An RBI single by Tom Biryla sparked L.I. Saints’ rally. McManus ended the inning by getting Liam Weigele to fly out. Mineola scored five more runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Mineola Wins Tight Game
Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Sunday as the Mineola Hurricanes outscored the L.I. Saints 14-13 in six innings recently. The teams totaled 33 hits, including six extra base hits in the game.
The top of the first saw the Saints take an early 4-0 lead. Tom Biryla started the rally for L.I. Saints with a single. Dom Bosco singled, scoring Jake Christianson. More runs came home for Saints when Tom
Biryla scored on an RBI single by Goe Cartisano and Dom Bosco and Goe Cartisano scored on a two-run single by Jack Chinsky.
The Hurricanes answered Saints’ top inning with four runs of its own in the third. Mineola Hurricanes scored on an RBI triple by Connor Eakin, an RBI single by Phil, and a two-run single by Kevin Pusey. Mineola took the lead in the fifth inning and held on for the victory. Mineola Hurricanes went up for good on an RBI double by Jack Mackay off Tom Biryla, plating Patrick O’Gara.
TJ McManus led the team in hits with three hits. Patrick O’Gara led the team in walks with 2.
Philip Macchietto got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed three runs over 2 2/3 innings. Macchietto struck out two, walked two and gave up three hits.
Hurricanes Fall To Central Islip
The Mineola Hurricanes fell 11-1 to the Central Islip Cougars at Eastview Field in Central Islip on Tuesday, June 23. Trevor Esparza recorded the win for the Cougars. He allowed one run over four innings. He struck out five, walked two and surrendered two hits.
The Cougars were sparked by Jraven Keet and Anthony Golobil, who teamed up for five hits and seven RBIs.
Blake Bastos was charged with the loss for the Hurricanes. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out seven, and allowed four runs. The game was never in doubt after the first inning, as the Cougars scored three runs on a triple by Anthony Golobil.
The fourth inning saw the Hurricanes score its only run of the day on a groundout by Chris Marotta plating John Guiffre. The Cougars quickly matched the Hurricanes ‘s inning with a six-run inning of its own in the bottom of the fourth to put the game out of reach.
