Corpus Christi 7th Grade Boys Make “B” Division Playoffs Lifeguarding Just Got Easier for Teens

The Corpus Christi seventh grade boys finished a fantastic season in the very competitive CYO “B” division and are headed to the playoffs with a final record of 7-5, good for third place in their region. The CYO “B” division is comprised of teams that are on par with most school teams. The Mineola boys’ success shows they are on schedule to compete with the same high caliber of play that its high school counterparts have been playing with the last several years.

This is a well-balanced team with both size and quickness as Michael Conte and Tommy Farrell patrol the paint and provide a strong presence down low. Both these players have added a scoring touch around the basket to go along with their rebounding ability that they have shown the last several years.

Patrick Brady comes off the bench to take over the fourth or fifth spot without missing a beat and can also contribute with his offensive skills. John Clancy and Joe DiIorio alternate from two guards to small forwards as Clancy uses his quickness both on offense and defense while Joe D. has been lights out shooting from the perimeter.

Steven Gessner has played all five spots on the court but is really like a point forward as he runs the offense from the wing for this high-powered, run and gun squad.

Alex Tavieria has helped shut down the other teams best offensive players all season and has also added offense to his arsenal. Josh Bunch is a new and vital addition to this group this season as he took over the point guard spot for Michael Patalano, who was injured early in the season. Mike has been this team’s floor leader since these boys have been playing together. Josh, who was slated as the shooting guard in the beginning of the season, slid over to the point and has lead this group to the playoffs for the first time in the “B” division.
