The Chiefs 3rd Grade Boys Lacrosse Team was outstanding as they had their work cut out for them in beating the perennial powerhouse Massapequa Mustangs 9-5 at home on the first annual Mineola Lacrosse Day. This brings their undefeated record to 3-0.
Chiefs scoring was provided by midfielders Michael O’Connell (8 goals) and Matt Sluka (1 goal).
The Chiefs offensive worked hard as they moved the ball up and down the field against the Mustangs. Midfielders Thomas Albig (1assist), Jack Duff, Darien Lloyd and Jason Eccher fought hard and beat the Mustangs to ground balls to help maintain offensive possessions. Chiefs attackmen Matt Grimm, Marc Chiappone, Matty O’Connell, Joey Ruscillo, Liam Gormley and Jack O’Brien controlled the ball in the offensive end of the field as they kept the heat on the Mustangs goalie.
The Chiefs defense again was tough as nails. Defensemen Michael Laginestra, Matt Castello, Nick Monteforte and Philip Arnold pounded Massapequa possession after possession, as goalie Sean Hembach was unconscious in goal making save after save, frustrating the Mustangs. All the boys played and participated in the victory.
