The American Indoor Football Association has only one Luso-American player, who will close out the season with the New Jersey Revolution during its last regular season game on Saturday June 12. Starting Kicker Craig Pinto of Mineola has played professional football for 2 years now for the Morristown based football team, and has been a team captain both years, and currently leads the league in field goals per game.
“I am very lucky to have the chance to play a game that I love professionally and have the opportunity to give back to my community at the same time,” Pinto said.
Pinto played college football for Hofstra University and will host a charity event to benefit the Celiac Disease Research Center of Columbia University in late July in New York City. He will also be working with Guinness World Records, where he will attempt to break a field goal world record.
“I felt this was an excellent way to raise money and awareness for Celiac Disease Research by doing something fun and different,” he said.
The New Jersey Revolution will play its final home game of the season at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ on June 12 at 7 p.m.
