The Mineola Chiefs 5th grade lacrosse teams combined to go 14-0 to win the 5th grade championship.
The two goalies, Joe Megeil, 53 saves, 1 shutout and Charlie Clancy, a converted defenseman, 31 saves, 2 shutouts, provided the stop-gap. Megeil’s best game came against Wantagh as he made 14 saves, 7 coming in the fourth quarter, to lead Mineola to victory. Clancy’s best game came against Seaford as he made 9 saves, 3 in the last two minutes of the game to beat Seaford.
All season the Chiefs defenseman were very physical and aggressive on the opposition attackmen, thus allowing only 2 goals per game with 3 shutouts. The Maroon defense, led by Mark Cavalaro 23 GB, Luke Pacher 22 GB, and Max Gerow 12 GB, were superb, with two shutouts. The White defense led by Lewis Grama 23 GB, Neal Ressa 7 GB, Rory O’Connor 6 GB, and Mike Chase 5 GB with 1 shutout, rounded out the unit.
Offensively Mineola’s depth was one of its strong points. They like to run and they like to shoot, using their relentless speed and quickness to overpower teams offensively. Their transition game added to their high-powered offense that averaged 8 goals per game. They displayed a well-balanced attack as 17 players took part in scoring during the season, with 11 players having 8 or more points.
The Chiefs dominated nearly every facet of the game all season, allowing 37 goals, while scoring 103.
Face-off middies Campbell Goulet 44 GB-16 pts., Brendan Krebs 24 GB-16 pts., Joe Grimm 18 GB-16 pts., John Stabile 31 GB-6 pts., and Chris Keyes 8 GB., won 61 of 80 face-offs for a 76 percent winning percentage.
White Middies – Dom Pascarella 36 GB – 19 pts., Chris Ruscillo 34 GB – 16 pts., John Keyes 6 GB, and Mike Wozniak 5 GB.
White Attack – Dan Powell 29 GB – 19 pts., and Jake Lopez 21 GB – 6 pts.
Maroon Middies – Omar Burns 22 GB – 13 pts., Wil Kinney 25 GB – 9 pts., and Adriel Santoli 4 GB – 1 pt.
Maroon Attack – Tom McCune 25 GB – 14 pts., Mike Scaldateri 19 GB – 10 pts., and Connor Feit 22 GB – 8 pts.

Third/Fourth Grade Chiefs Cap Off Undefeated Season
The Mineola Chiefs third/fourth grade lacrosse team ended its season with a down-to-the-wire game against Port Washington. The game proved to be the toughest one of the season, but the chiefs maintained the lead for most of the game. Port Washington was able to tie the game in the last two minutes. With a score of 7-7, the Chiefs completed its season with a record of 7 wins and 1 tie.
