The Oyster Bay High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) is actively involved with the school community in a variety of ways. Our programs are geared toward mutual cooperation, and we encourage the children to mature in a nurturing environment. The president of the student council often attends, informing us of new ideas and projects the students have developed. All parents (and children) are invited to attend.

This year, we have begun more parent-education programs, oriented especially toward children-parent relations. The first program that we have offered provided tips for parents and students survival in the high school; the second revealed secrets of college scholarships; the third explained how to help your teenager mature while still letting go.

On March 19, at 8 p.m. we will discuss "Stress and How to Manage It." This should be a valuable program for students and parents alike.

On a more concrete level, the PTSA provides food for the student council picnic in June; we provide chaperones for dances and other events; we support the senior breakfast and also award a scholarship to a graduating senior.

The PTSA basically tries to enhance life at the high school through the joint efforts of students, teachers, administrators and parents.
