The Town of Oyster Bay announced that Barry Yampol of Cove Neck has applied for a permit for the construction of a dock within the jurisdiction of the town. The application is to construct a four foot by 160 foot fixed dock consisting of a pier, a three foot by 20 foot ramp and a six foot by 20 foot float. It adjoins Cove Neck Road.

Mayor Tom Zoller said "The new dock is located where one used to be. There are still piles of rock there. Residents of Cove Neck were all given information about the dock because of all the furor created when the Grace dock appeared.

"He (Mr. Yampol) is going by the book. Doing the right things," said Mr. Zoller. "We questioned his use of arsenic treated lumber but the town said it was okay." It hasn't been proved to have an adverse effect on the environment.

The public can view the maps and other documents regarding the dock at the office of the Town Clerk, Audrey Ave., Oyster Bay, during working hours, 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday. Letters can be sent on or before Sept. 21.
