Sister M. Thomasine Ryan, of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Oct. 1, 1998 at the Marian Convent, the infirmary of the IHM Sisters in Scranton, PA. Born in Syosset, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Charlotte Robinson Ryan. She entered the IHM Congregation on Sept. 8, 1940, made her temporary profession of vows on May 10, 1943 and her final profession of vows on Aug. 1, 1946.

She served as a teacher at St. Dominic Elementary School, Oyster Bay, form 1974 to 1980 and as a secretary at Our Lady of Grace Center, Manhasset, from 1983 to 1988. She also served in elementary schools in Forest Hills, Pittsburgh, Sayre and Clarks Green, PA, Asbury Park, NJ, Baltimore, MD and Cranston, RI. She was a prayer minister at the Marian Convent from 1990 to the time of her death.

She received a bachelor of science degree in education and a master of science degree in special education from Marywood College.

Surviving are a sister, Charlotte Martin of Seabrook, SC; a brother, Thomas E. Ryan of Deer Park; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas H. Mass of Christian Burial at Marian Convent. Interment St. Catherine Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Memorial contributions can be made to the IHM Retirement Fund, IHM Center, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.

Jacob D. Holmes Jr., of Pennsyvania, died on Oct. 2, 1998. Husband of the late Helen (nee Box). Father of Dolores Pinero of NJ and Dorothea Landrum of IL. Brother of Robert Holmes and Ada Beacon. Grandfather of 13. Great-grandfather of 13. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. Funeral service. Interment Greenfield Cemetery.

Leon Pedigo died on Oct. 4, 1998. Husband of Joan Gehnrich Pedigo. Father of Leon Jr., Wayne R., Deborah J. DiLeo, Daryl K., Sondra E. McIlwaine and Nicole V. Dusold. Grandfather of Eugene Pedigo and Vernelle Bollion. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. Funeral service. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association.

Michael Trezza, of East Norwich, died on Oct. 6, 1998. Husband of Jacqueline (nee Panettieri). Father of Michael, Lorraine and Denise. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. Funeral Mass at St. Dominic's RC Chapel. Donations can be made to Hospice Care Network, 14 Shore Ln. Bay Shore, NY 11706.

Madeline S. Rowan, of Island Park, died on Oct. 7, 1998. Mother of Eileen Rowan, VMD, of Bayville and Carey Rowan (Janice) of Philadelphia. Arrangements were made by the Oyster Bay Funeral Home. A graveside service was held at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville, PA with Rev. Cynthia A. Jarvis of the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, officiating. Gladys R. Baker, of Oyster Bay Cove, died on Oct. 8, 1998. Mother of Beverly Mohlenhoff, Hugh Baker, Betty Valentine and the late Barbara Kassner and Howard Baker. Grandmother of 15.
