Billy Minicozzi correctly identified the "Bayville Fish and Tackle Store - sporting store in Bayville owned by Timmy Doyle who just became a Bayville fireman this past year or so. The store is across from Bayville Fire House.
"The previous owner was Norman McCoy," said Billy.
The next call was from John Genovese and not until the third call did it become clear what he said on my voice mail which sounded like: "It's the Bayville Bait and Tackle Shop with owner "Norman the Worm Boy" standing in the door."
Corinna Pillari called and said, "It's Tim Doyle, he owns Bayville Sporting Goods. His store is right across from my office at Century 21 Coast Realty on Bayville Avenue. I see Tim every day and can wave to him.
"We (Corinna and her husband Lou Pillari) only buy our worms from him when we go fishing. We always go in and buy our stuff there."
The Rest of the Story...
The mystery photo for the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot of Oct. 8 came from Carla Bladykas Panetta. It is a photo of Bayville Sporting Goods on Bayville Avenue, across the street from the Bayville Firehouse.
The proprietor, Tim Doyle, in the photo, is a long-time Oyster Bay resident. He is now living in Bayville and runs his shop while he is a volunteer fireman and medic for the fire company.
His shop location renders Tim the Number One available volunteer. He has volunteered at Bayville schools teaching environmental topics to the children.
"He's a great guy with a great sense of humor and would love it if he saw this in the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot, 'How well do you know the area?'"
A big thank you to Carla!
Carla works in the firm of Bladykas & Panetta L.S. & P.E., P.C. that does civil engineering and land surveying out of their office at 168 South Street in Oyster Bay.
