Walter F. Griffiths, 78, of Stony Point, NY, died on Dec. 26, 2000. Beloved husband of Margaret Helen (Weygandt) formerly of Hicksville. Devoted father of Walter (Eileen), Thomas (Roni), Raymond (Cathie), Monica Long (Mark), Patricia Horan (Patrick) of East Norwich, Mary Ellen Young (Mark) and Robert Weygandt (Cecilia). Loving grandfather of 15. Cherished brother of Gerry and Raymond Griffiths. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Griffiths served in the US Navy from 1940 to 1945 attaining the rank of Gunners Mate 1. He served on: the USS Philadelphia C-41; USS Kennebunk AO-36, USS Dorothea L. Dix AP-67 and USS LSMR-45. Mr. Griffiths has lived in Stony Point for the last 30 years. He retired in 1990. He will be remembered for being an avid bowler and gardener. A Memorial Mass of Resurrection was held at St. Gregory's RC Church, Gamerville, on Jan. 6.
