How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Village Camera, 128 South Street, Oyster Bay.

Billy Minicozzi called with two guesses. The first was from Billy Mac Namara, saying, the "Houses in the overlook view, are by the Roosevelt School in Oyster Bay."
Billy fine tuned the location with the help of Gary Cheridean who said, "It's the back of town hall, looking out of a window and looking at the back of the houses on Hamilton Ave." That's right!
Gary drives a 1970 all red pickup, said Billy.
He is looking forward to the Superbowl. He had been thinking it would be the Giants vs. the Oakland Raiders at 2:30 on the tenth.
He said Monday, "Let's go Giants against the Baltimore Ravens!" Imagine the score on Sunday: 41-zip!
Jake T. Lane called and said the mystery photo was taken from the athletic stadium at the Roosevelt School overlooking Larrabee Ave. and Bayside Avenue.
What is wonderful is that all the callers had the area pinpointed, if not always the exact bird's-eye view. Great work guys!
Dear Internet Readers:
A time capsule uncovered when the Bermingham School was closed will be opened during a town meeting at the Vernon School, scheduled for 9 a.m. on Jan. 25.
Third grade teacher Richard Siegelman, who is coordinating the opening ceremony, is using the event as a history lesson. The items in the capsule should date from the early 1960s.
Mr. Siegelman has tried to contact former teachers at the Bermingham School to attend the ceremony. He has been in contact with about 10 of them, and hopes that more will show up.
One student remembers she and her brother submitting drawings for the capsule and hopes to get them back, he said. Anyone interested in attending the town meeting may contact Mr. Siegelman at the Vernon School, at 516-624-6559.
