Marie Jennings Yerry, of Locust Valley, died on May 15, 2001, in her 94th year at her home, surrounded by loving family members and friends. A devoted educator, she was assistant superintendent of schools and innovative principal of John West Elementary School in the Plainedge School District, retiring in 1969. She was a former art teacher in the Locust Valley School District between 1948 and 1955. Wife of the late Marshall Hughes Yerry and sister of the late Alma J. Boris. Mother of Hugh Yerry (Linda), James Yerry (Judy) and the late Mavourneen O'Connell (Jim) and Mary Lou Gibson (Paul). Grandmother of James M. Yerry, David Yerry, the late Peter Yerry and Heather Yerry, Christopher Yerry, Lynda Hickey, Maureen Hoar, James J. Yerry, Beth Higgins, Mary Anne Marks, James P. O'Connell, Erin O'Connell, Kerin O'Connell, Daniel O'Connor, Alysia Manerowski, Karyn Manerowski, Michael Manerowski and 19 great-grandchildren. Terry Amaro, of Locust Valley, died on May 21, 2001, after a nine-month battle with cancer. She faced her illness courageously. She was the owner of Tamar Hairstylist and co-owner of The Casual Nook, both of Locust Valley. Daughter of the late Santo and Concetta Amaro. Sister of Rose Macarrone. Sister and and best friend of Julie Albin. Aunt of Linda German and Kathy Carney. Aunt and second mother to Christopher Albin.
