How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Village Camera, 128 South Street, Oyster Bay.

Marion Rayve called to identify the picture in the May 31 issue of the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot. "It's a picture of the Community Methodist Church in East Norwich. Leigh (her daughter) was married there five years ago today (May 31)," she said.

Cindy Maloney called and said, "It's the Methodist Church in East Norwich. It was taken at the Centennial celebration of the cornerstone dedication," she said.

Danielle Gershon called to say, "It's the church on 106. I went to the pre-school held behind that church."

Belle Santora called to say "It's the Methodist Church in East Norwich." We asked how she knew and she said, "I was born on Anstice Street in Oyster Bay 90 years ago, in June." We asked if she were part of the Oyster Bay Historical Society's Italian Immigrant program. She said she had been interviewed by Tom Kuehhas, OBHS director.

"I still have all my marbles and can remember a lot. I was born in 1911 and can remember things since I was 5. I remember Theodore Roosevelt's funeral. I told him whatever I could," said Mrs. Santora.

"My mother and father came in 1900 from Italy, San Giovanni in the province of Benevento, about a half hour away from Naples.

"I remember East Norwich when Rothmann's was there and bobsled races down that hill. Growing up we had such a simple life but a good life. We had to be inventive and make up our own games. It was a simple but good life without all the stress young people have today," she said.

Back to the mystery picture: Nasrin Mesbah called and said "That is the Methodist United Church of East Norwich on Route 106.

Lauren Victory said, "It's the parade at United Methodist Church on Vernon Avenue held on May 5, and for 100 year anniversary of the church."

That was just perfect.
