William M. Thompson, of East Norwich, died on July 16, 2001. He was a WWII veteran serving with the Armed Forces, Field Artillery and Air Transport Command, and was a member of East Norwich Volunteer Fire Co. #1. Husband of Lois (nee Kasso). Father of William (Lou Ann) and Cornell (Jo-Ann). Grandfather of Susan (Troy), Dawn (Steve), Jennifer, Billy, Michelle, Brian and Katherine. Great-grandmother of Zachary and Charles. Arrangements were made by the Beney Funeral Home, Syosset. American Legion, Masonic and Firematic services. Religious service at the Community United Methodist Church of East Norwich. Interment Memorial Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Community United Methodist Church of East Norwich.

Nellie Mazane, a longtime resident of Oyster Bay, died on July 16, 2001, at Carillon House in Huntington. Predeceased by her husband, Frank, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bernadette and Richard Cieciuch; and her son Frank J. Jr.; her brother, William Linda; grandchildren, Valerie, Richard Jr., Catherine, Stephen and Elizabeth; and ten great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. Funeral Mass at St. Dominic's RC Church officiated by The Rev. Malcolm Burns. Cremation private. Mrs. Mazane was buried with her husband in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mary K. Burke, a lifelong resident of Oyster Bay, died at the Glengariff Care Center in Glen Cove on July 20, 2001. Mrs. Burke was a devoted member of St. Dominic's Church, having been coordinator of its Helping Hands program and the "Thursday Ladies." She was also a 60-year member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Guild. Predeceased by her husband, John Andrew, Mrs. Burke is survived by her children, Katharine and Carmine Micena, S. Margaret Burke, IHM, Patricia Burke, Rosemary and Keith Mason, John A. Burke and Thomas and Lisa Burke. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. Mass celebrated at St. Dominic's RC Chapel with The Rev. Malcolm Burns officiating. Cremation private. Mrs. Burke was interred with her husband in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

Mary Walti, a lifetime resident of Oyster Bay, died after a long and courageous illness, on July 22, 2001. An employee of AT&T for 34 years, she was a member of the Pioneers of America. Mrs. Walti is predeceased by her husband, Edward L.; her sister Margareat Sehlmeyer; and a brother, Albert (Buddy) Brandt. Surviving is her son, David B. of Oyster Bay; her brother, James (Tiny) Brandt; and her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Brandt and Ann Brandt. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. Mass was offered by the Rev. Edward D'Andrea at St. Dominic's RC Church. Interment Memorial Cemetery of St. John's.
