Community Mourns for Loss
Oyster Bay, as all of the Manhattan Metropolitan area is getting to know the people lost in the terrorist bombing of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11. Most of us watched the events as they happened on television. Now we are seeing the depth of the loss as we attend the memorial funerals of those people whose lives were unforgivably ended.

Winning Design for Oyster Festival T-Shirt
The Oyster Festival Committee is pleased to announce the winner of this year's T-shirt design contest. Fran Babiss of Orchard Street in the hamlet submitted the winning design. Dr. Babiss, a mental health occupational therapist at South Oaks Hospital, has been coming to the Oyster Fest for years. "I'll be there both days; I wouldn't miss it!" she promised. Her design will be silk-screened onto the commemorative T-shirts which will sell at the Festival, Saturday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 14, for under $20. The second place winner is Kristen Ingraham, a student at Oyster Bay HS. Third place was won by Gianni Napolitano, a third grader at the Vernon School. Both Kristen and Gianni will receive a savings bond.

Oyster Bay Anglers Ace Bluefish Tournament
It's always a great day in Oyster Bay at the annual Bluefish Tournament. The 16th Annual Town of Oyster Bay Bluefish Tournament was held on Sunday, Sept. 9. Tom Swiencki owner of Oyster Bay Marine Supply is a co-sponsor of the event.
