How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Pleasant Valley Gallery & Gifts, 101 South Street, Oyster Bay.

The correct answer for the mystery picture came by email from Harold Flower of Deerfield Beach, Florida!

"It looks to me, to be a picture of contestants in the Oyster Eating contest at the 2001 Oyster Festival," he wrote.

Brendon Williams said, "The picture is of the Oyster Eating Contest. It's my friend P.J. in the center of the picture."

He was correct! Oyster Bay High School student P.J. Pinello of Oyster Bay Cove is in the middle. He ate 42 oysters during the contest.

Oyster Bay High School student Glen Contreras of Oyster Bay is standing on the right. Glen ate 59 oysters.

It was great to see two Oyster Bay High School students taking part in the festival. There's nothing so great as really getting involved in the fun! We hope they will come back next year!

Billy Minicozzi said, "It is three guys, young men at the Oyster Festival in Oyster Bay." He added a sports note: "The Yankees will win the series in six games over the Diamond Backs of Arizona. Then we'll have a New York team winning the world series!"

Sarah Gershon said, "The mystery picture is of three contestants at the Oyster Eating Contest. I was there and I thought it was disgusting," she said.

Actually that seems to be the purpose of the event - grossing us all out with "mass quantities." Nothing like the joy of eating them one by one.

Beatrice Cardinale of Locust Valley said, "I think it's the Frank Flowers clam bar. I think that's what it is. I didn't attend the Oyster Festival."

That really is a good guess because the oysters all came from the Frank M. Flower Oyster Company!

Justin Connolly of Locust Valley called and guessed it was the gym of Oyster Bay High School. Again, that's a good guess when you consider there were two Oyster Bay High School students in the picture.

That was a Sherlock Holmesian answer.
