Local Election Results: Most Incumbents Hold on
Incumbent Republican supervisor for the Town of Oyster Bay John Venditto was victorious in the Tuesday Nov. 6 election. Venditto, who garnered nearly 10,000 more votes than his Democratic opponent Joe Lorintz, received 41,254 votes while Lorintz received 31,434. Venditto celebrated with fellow Republicans Tuesday night, where he thanked his colleagues and said that the people made their choice clear.

Gymnasium Planned for GB Club
To date, the membership is at its highest level, 1,156, with average daily attendance at 200 at the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club. "This year's Annual Fund goal, of $170,000, is a modest but realistic one given the nation's economic stance. And, knowing that some community members will direct their charitable dollars toward the gymnasium project or other charitable appeals, we need to be pragmatic," says Ramon Reyes, executive director.

The Tornadoes played to a 1-0 win over the second placed team the Valley Stream Tornadoes on Sunday, Nov. 4 at home. After playing on a rough field the previous week, the Tornadoes were cruising on the beautiful, well-groomed field at Vernon School. However, the roughness showed up on the field against the physically tough Valley Stream Tornadoes. Three yellow cards were issued during the game-simultaneously to Valley Stream's left fullback and to our right forward Elena Albanese for continuous rough play, then to the Valley Stream coach for questioning the referee's calls.
