To date, the membership is at its highest level, 1,156, with average daily attendance at 200 at the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club. "This year's Annual Fund goal, of $170,000, is a modest but realistic one given the nation's economic stance. And, knowing that some community members will direct their charitable dollars toward the gymnasium project or other charitable appeals, we need to be pragmatic," says Ramon Reyes, executive director.

The club's board of directors has also approved a budget that is smaller than last year's-we have tightened the belt here at the club, but still need to provide necessary services for the 200 youngsters who come through our doors six days a week," he continued.

This year's Capital Campaign includes a new 8,000 square foot gymnasium. With 40 percent of the club's basketball programs held off-site, and more than 400 boys and girls enrolled in the basketball program, the board of directors and a number of community leaders concluded that a new gymnasium was the viable alternative to the present situation.

Members of the community are asked to contribute a tax-deductible contribution to the Capital Campaign that will go toward the "Building Commitment, Kids-Families-Community" for the gymnasium as well as consider the vital support needed for the annual fund that supports ongoing programs.

A Capital Campaign contribution of $100 and over will be recognized on a commemorative plaque in the lobby of the new wing. By being as generous as you can, at this most uncertain time, the long tradition of support from the community throughout the past half-century will continue.

Please contact Anne Joyce, director of development, who can be reached at 759-5437 if you have any questions or if you wish to make a contribution, or tour the facility, and thank you.
