The Tornadoes played to a 1-0 win over the second placed team the Valley Stream Tornadoes on Sunday, Nov. 4 at home. After playing on a rough field the previous week, the Tornadoes were cruising on the beautiful, well-groomed field at Vernon School. However, the roughness showed up on the field against the physically tough Valley Stream Tornadoes. Three yellow cards were issued during the game-simultaneously to Valley Stream's left fullback and to our right forward Elena Albanese for continuous rough play, then to the Valley Stream coach for questioning the referee's calls.

Gabby Sirow had another exceptional game in goal for the Tornadoes earning another shut out game. Samantha Sternbach made the winning goal from a corner kick taken by Elena Albanese.

The Tornadoes will close the fall season on Sunday at 12:40 p.m. at Vernon against North Babylon Patriettes.

The Hurricanes continued their winning streak by beating the Baldwin Eagle Cheetahs 4-2 at East Woods School on Saturday. They remain undefeated for the season and, with one game left, have an excellent chance of taking the Long Island Junior Soccer League Divisional Trophy home to Oyster Bay East Norwich Soccer Club.

The game was an exciting one with the Hurricanes quickly moving into a three-goal lead. Comfortable with their goal advantage, the coaches experimented with moving players to other positions-costing the Hurricanes two goals against them. Realizing that the Baldwin Eagles were not so easy to beat, the lineup was quickly restored resulting in a final insurance goal and a score of 4-2. The game was a physical one-it seemed the Eagle cheetahs had fielded a little vampire as two Hurricane players left the field with teeth marks on their arms! The referee and opposing coach were made aware of the situation.

The Hurricanes will finish the fall season on Saturday in Garden City.

The under 14 and both under 11 girls' teams will play indoor soccer during the winter. More to follow!

The Oyster Bay Blizzards battled to a 0-0 tie with the Glen Cove Crusaders. Most of the game was played in the Crusaders' half of the field. The Blizzards' relentless offensive, spurred on by Kelsey Todd, Elizabeth Abbondandolo and Rebecca Orlich, peppered the Glen Cove goalie who came up with some amazing saves. On the Blizzards' side of the field Molly Kirkpatrick and Kat Fressie recorded their second combination shut out. The defensive lineup was superb and anchored by Maddie 'The Rock' Howes, Denise Neuendorf and Courtney Collins. The Blizzards sit safely in second place with one game to play.
