How Well Do You Know the Area? Do you know where this week's picture was taken? If you do, call the Enterprise-Pilot at 747-8282 and let us know. If you have a picture that you think might be interesting for others to guess, drop it off in our box at Pleasant Valley Gallery & Gifts, 101 South Street, Oyster Bay.

Rosemarie Marvos said she identified the picture of Mario's last week, and she knew this week's mystery picture was, "The parking lot behind the old Knights of Columbus Hall." She said "Happy New Year to everyone."

Matthew Butler said, "I know where the mystery picture is in the Enterprise Pilot. It's the community center where I take my karate lessons. I am six years old and I live in Oyster Bay."

Billy Minicozzi wishes everyone a happy New Year. He said, the mystery picture "Is the Oyster Bay Community Center right by the Knights of Columbus Hall. The old Foodtown was there in the '60s and '70s." On a sports note, he wished Billy "The Hammer" Starke a happy birthday on Jan. 9.

Woody Ryder too, recognized the location. He said via e-mail, "Happy New Year. I believe this photo to be of the Community Center in the municipal parking lot, to the southeast of the back of Atlantic Steamer's headquarters, and north of the K of C."

"It's the Oyster Bay Community Center on Church Street," said Robert Pelchuck, an Oyster Bay High School graduate of the class of 1964. He remembers the building when it was a youth center in the early '60s. "We used to play pool and listen to records as teenagers. We didn't really have a youth center then. We also used the Roosevelt School and the Vernon School where we could use the gym at night, but I remember playing pool and hanging out with people at the community center. Recently, an old girlfriend was talking to me and said she remembered looking for me around town and finally found me there, playing pool."

Growing up in Oyster Bay leaves people with nice memories.

We received an e-mail saying, "Hello Dagmar and Happy Holidays to all in Oyster Bay! My name is Ed Contreras (Class of '90 O.B.H.S). I now live in Austin, Texas, but still have family and property in Oyster Bay. The picture of the white building with the ramp (Jan. 1 issue) is the building that was across from the "Old Foodtown" in the rear of the parking lot. They used to have functions in that building. The parking lot is right behind the firehouse."

Another e-mail was from Joe Williams. "It looks like the Community Center. I'm not sure if it's called that but I'm pretty sure of the location, in the old Foodtown parking lot."

We went to press early for the Jan. 1 issue so we missed some phone calls for the mystery picture for the Dec. 23 issue. We got a call from Rosemary Mavros, of Oyster Bay who called and correctly identified it saying, "It's Mario's Pizza in East Norwich."
