The WaterFront Center hosted a holiday party at the home of board member Frinny Storrs during the December holiday season. It was a time to celebrate a year of great activities. "We wanted to thank all the people who worked at the WaterFront Center: all the volunteers, the staff and the board. We expected over 200 people to come, at one time," said Fritz Coudert, WFC board president. "It's a large group. The weather kept some people away. The oysters stayed home and the pearls came to celebrate!"

This has been an exciting year at the WaterFront Center, they took over running the annual Bay Day event in June and held their first Regatta and clam bake. They even brightened up the winter for residents. The Nantucket Lightship has been the big news down at the waterfront, during the holiday season when it was illuminated with 600 feet of lights. Mr. Coudert had special kudos for Ben Butler, the man who helped bring the Nantucket Lightship to Oyster Bay and has contributed to the Staten Island Lighthouse Museum. He is on that board as is Mr. Coudert.

He also had kudos for Bill Shepherd, who was instrumental in bringing the ship to Oyster Bay and has been helping to repair the ship. His son is captain of the Nantucket. The ship should be sailing to the museum sometime in the spring.
