Last year the new youth football and cheerleading program started in Oyster Bay. "We have had a tremendous showing and team support from the surrounding communities of Oyster Bay, Brookville, Muttontown, Centre Island, Locust Valley, Mill Neck, Laurel Hollow and East Norwich, etc." said M.T. Marolda. "We need more positive programs like this for our children and our community." Sponsors and volunteers are always needed, she added.

"The program, named "The Rough Riders" needs parent involvement of the community to make the program a success. Please help support our team by signing your children up for the nest season's events," she said.

Football and cheerleading registration takes place on March 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Roughriders Field House, located at the Oyster Bay Baymen High School Football Field behind the Roosevelt Elementary School.

The teams are for boys and girls in four age categories: 5 to 6 years; 7 to 8 years; 9 to 10 years; 11 to 12 years. The groups are determined by actual age, as of 12/1/04. For information please call 922-3761.
