Charleen Niznik called to identify the mystery photo in the May 27 issue of the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot. "It's Supervisor Colby talking to Clint Smith," she said. Charleen was chair of the Holidays in Oyster Bay committee for the past two years.
A mystery woman caller said "It's Joseph Colby and maybe Clint Smith taken back in the 70s. See you at Bay Day (June 6)."
Billy Minicozzi guessed the photo was of a Bay Constable and that it was taken at the Oyster Bay dock in the Theodore Roosevelt Park. He added that the next Bayville Firemen's Installation dinner will be held at the Brookville Country Club. "The arrangements were made by Eddie Minicozzi senior." Mr. Minicozzi has been active with the Bayville Fire Company for many years.
As noted by the callers, the photo was from our files and is of then Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Colby, now a judge, and Oyster Bay Harbor Master Clint Smith, now retired and an integral member of the Christeen oyster sloop family. The picture was taken at the Oyster Bay Town Marina.
