Golfers can sign up for the Jennifer Ferraro Foundation benefit golf outing on Aug. 5 to be held at at Bethpage State Park. There will be celebrity golfers including several Islanders, Rangers, Devils, and from Montreal, the Blackhawks, as well as Jets and Giants who will be on the course.

Chris Ferraro is a professional hockey player from Long Island who along with his twin brother have had a 10-year career in the NHL and AHL. Chris lost his wife and college sweetheart over a year ago tragically to stomach cancer. She was diagnosed only three months after they were married and just as his hockey career was peaking.

Fortunately, Chris was able to put aside hockey and had some money to afford to be with Jennifer every moment. She was 32 when she died. He started this foundation because he could imagine how much harder it is for people to have to choose between treatment and other things in life like a mortgage payment. The money raised by the foundation goes toward helping patients make better choices about their treatment.
