Congratulations to veteran Oyster Bay runner Elizabeth Penagos, who scored with first place honors in the 55-59 age group in the Heart & Sole 5 Kilometer Run that was held on the roads of Plainview on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 29, a brand new event on the Long Island running scene.
The 56-year-old Penagos crossed the finish line at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School in 26 minutes, 25 seconds, 30 seconds in front of age group runner-up Evelyn Aranella of New Hyde Park.
The run/walk was conducted by the Greater Long Island Running Club for the benefit of and to support Community Hospital MRI Programs at three North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System facilities.
