AvalonBay Speaks to Local Civics
The Oyster Bay Civic Association hosted an open forum for AvalonBay Communities to talk to local residents about their 300-unit luxury apartment complex proposed for Oyster Bay. The site, owned by Island Properties is in contract to AvalonBay Communities conditional on their receiving permits to construct the proposed apartment building.

Ashleigh Tate Brings Back Gold at U.S. Rowing National Championship
Ashleigh Tate is looking forward to going to the Olympics in four years. She graduated from Oyster Bay High School in June, and started her college career at the University of Rhode Island this September with an eye toward crewing in the next Olympics. She crews with the Sagamore Rowing Association and in July won the title of U.S. Rowing National Junior Women's Single.

Sagamore Yacht Club Hosts 6th Annual Friends of the Bay Race
The Sagamore Yacht Club has held a special fund-raising race and party to benefit the Friends of the Bay for the past six years. Jaime Van Dyke, who crews aboard Jack Bernstein's Luff Story, said, "Over the past two years we have been working to make this race more serious and competitive to draw sailors from all over Long Island Sound. Since the inception of the race over five years ago we have not had much luck from the wind."
