The Youth and Family Counseling Agency of Oyster Bay/East Norwich is preparing to host its annual Bowls of Plenty benefit luncheon. The gathering place will be Oyster Bay's Doubleday Babcock Senior Center on Sunday, Nov. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

In 2000, this scrumptious autumn event was created with this simple recipe: local chefs blend culinary talents with the artistry of potters, many from the Long Island Craft Guild. Each guest chooses one of the uniquely handcrafted pottery bowls, which then is filled with a selection of delicious soup. The bowl may be taken home as a reminder of the occasion.

More than a dozen food purveyors and chefs from community restaurants are contributing to an expanded menu that will complement the soup selections. It will include salads, assorted breads and cheeses, fruit, desserts and beverages. The price will be $25 for adults and $10 for children, age 12 and younger. In addition to a raffle and door prizes, live entertainment will be featured throughout the afternoon. Among the performers offering a variety of musical tastes will be blues and jazz vocalist Gail Storm and the Chamber Players International.

All proceeds from Bowls of Plenty will nourish YFCA's mission to maintain and improve the quality of life for residents of the Oyster Bay/East Norwich community through a variety of programs and the provision of social services. The agency is especially appreciative of the commitment Tim Archdeacon has made on behalf of his company, ABI Research of Oyster Bay, to match every dollar up to $10,000 that is donated by individual benefit sponsors and attendees of Bowls of Plenty who purchase luncheon and raffle tickets. YFCA is also grateful for the benefit support of many individuals and local businesses, including Benefactors Island Properties, LLC and Piping Rock Associates, Inc.
