Charles Abbate called to identify the Mystery Picture of Oct. 28. "It's the Nassau Suffolk Lumber Company: the view from the train platform. I own a masonary business so I go in there now and then and wondered if it was the answer," he said. "It's one of the few pictures not of Oyster Bay, but it is part of the Oyster Bay train line," he added.
The picture was taken on Saturday, Oct. 16 as the Karppis were heading for the Oyster Festival via train. Mr. Abbate said he worked that weekend and had a family function to go to so he was at the Oyster Festival in "spirit" this year.
Bob Boisis of Bayville called and said. "It's the Nassau Suffolk Lumber Yard in Locust Valley!"
Billy Minicozzi guessed it was the old lumber yard in Oyster Bay. He said on a sport's note that the New York Yankees in Boston's Fenway Park on April 8 when the Red Sox get their World Series award. On the national scene, Billy predicted that Bush would beat Kerry on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
