The upcoming weekend appears to be one of jolly holiday events. We have been invited to so many events and they all sound so wonderful that we are considering the possibilities of cloning. With that being hard to arrange on short notice we just want to welcome local residents to share their photographs of the events they attend.

Just to make you laugh, we wanted to tell you that last Saturday, the Karppi family met in Grand Central Station to visit the MTA Museum and gift store and to have lunch at Michael Jordan's restaurant. We watched the laser show on the newly refurbished roof that glittered with floating images. It was just wonderful.

All around us people were taking photographs with their digital cameras. From the balcony we could see the little flashes of light as people were documenting the beautiful surroundings. We were not among them. Somehow we left our cameras home! Maybe we wanted them to rest for this weekend coming up.

Among the events that are happening this weekend is one we just got notification of from Jack Scheich, president of the Committee for the Beautification of East Norwich. He wrote: "Our Annual Christmas Tree lighting will be held on Sunday, Dec. 5 at 6 p.m. at the usual place - the Northeast corner of Routes 25A and 106. Please come out for the celebration, which traditionally rings in the holiday season in East Norwich. There will be Santa Claus at the keyboard and the usual holiday songs and hymns. It is a fun time for those 2 to 92. Come out and bring a friend or neighbor."

Earlier that day, starting at 4 p.m. in the hamlet of Oyster Bay the holidays will be ushered in with the annual parade and tree lighting at the Derby-Hall Bandstand. We plan to attend both events as has been the newspaper's tradition over the years but we don't want to miss publicizing your events. So, that is why we are asking you to share your photo snaps. You may e-mail your pictures to us at d.karppi@antonnews.com, or drop them off at Pleasant Valley Gallery & Gifts and we will share them with the community.

Have a great holiday season!
